  • Whereas inter-dental brushes tend to be patient friendly but are more traumatic to the gums.
  • There have been introduced advanced designs of flosses to make it more patient friendly, ask your nearest pharmacist for the availability.
  • Besides the teeth, gums are majorly affected by negligence which makes them to space out, being a sign of weak gums, comes after which food lodgement that   produces cavity.
  • Interdental brush and floss greatly help prevent cavity between adjacent teeth.

Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth Sensitivity is a very common condition that anyone can come across. It is the sharp feeling that is experienced when our teeth come in contact with hot or cold objects. It can cause serious problems in eating or drinking if left untreated. We notice a wide range of tooth paste for sensitive teeth every now and then. But should we really use one?

Why does tooth sensitivity occur?

Tooth Sensitivity mainly occurs when the outer layer enamel of the tooth is eroded. This erosion can be due to a number of reasons including acidity, grinding habits and intake of excessive sugary foods. Tooth Sensitivity can be a sign of underlying gum diseases and hence must eb checked with your dentist. You may try using one of the better tooth sensitivity tooth paste if you feel tooth sensitivity and do not enough time to visit your dentist.

How to use sensitivity tooth paste?

Unlike normal tooth paste, sensitivity tooth paste must be used in a particular way to get relief from sensitivity issues. The paste needs to be taken and applied over sensitive points in mouth and should be left there untouched for 40-60 seconds. It is very important to use an ultra soft brush during sensitivity issue to not further damage the outer layer. The paste should be used from there on for a period of two weeks. Usually sensitivity takes about 2 weeks to settle completely. Once the sensitivity is over, the paste should be discontinued and you can switch to your regular toothpaste.

I still experience sensitivity in my teeth. What should I do?

If sensitivity still persists, it’s time to see the dentist. The dentist will examine your teeth to check if there is any other health issue. Your dentist can use professional desensitising agents to reduce sensitivity in your teeth. If the issue can be treated normally, your dentist will try to solve it using desensitising agents. If the sensitivity still persists, your dentist will perform an intentional Root Canal Treatment to treat the condition.
